Event Details

Regular meetings of the Los Angeles InDesign User Group are held bimonthly. But even though we had a meeting last month and will have another next month, we were able to snag Chris Converse for a special meeting this month.

Chris Converse will speak to our group on creating interactive documents using CS5. Learn techniques in InDesign to make your interactive documents ready for prime time. Chris will show you workflows for creating interactivity with nested master pages; how to control video, and how to create non-linear information graphics using the new multi-state animation features of CS5. As with all Los Angeles InDesign User Group meetings, this is free to attend.

Chris is in town to speak at Adobe MAX and for his own “Dreamweaver Book Tour,” a seminar specifically targeted at designers who want to learn to create web pages. Those who attend his Dreamweaver Book Tour seminar receive a copy of “Bring Your Web Design to Life.” http://www.mogo-media.com/seminars/dreamweaver-design-create-your-website/2010/los-angeles/

Meeting Notes

The new interactive features in InDesign CS5 are all the rage, and lucky us: Chris Converse dropped by to demonstrate many of these features for us. He used a movie promotion brochure to show them, and he packed in a lot of information in just 90 minutes.

We are especially indebted to Chris for coming to us after having just conducted a day-long event in Culver City as part of his “Dreamweaver Book Tour,” a seminar specifically targeted at designers who want to learn to create web pages.

Following the presentation, we held six raffles. The big winner of the evening was Gina Sato who not only won a copy of Adobe InDesign CS5 but also a copy of Chris Converse’s video workbook “Bring Your Web Design to Life,” the basis of his Dreamweaver tour.

Michael Grant, a first timer, also won a copy of “Bring Your Web Design to Life.”

Steph Sydney won a copy of Adobe InDesign CS3 by Deke McClelland from O’Reilly Press.

Javan Wygal won Brochure Design cards from StockLayouts.

Joe Fresquez won a one-year subscription to InDesign Magazine.
