Welcome to the Los Angeles Chapter of the InDesign User Group. With one of the largest Markets of Talent, Skill, Creativity and Overall Passion for Media Distributed Materials, this User Group has to set the standard for Adobe User Groups and accept Challenges most Chapters will not have to deal with. Our Demographics and Geography require that we always push to find ingenious ways to keep information disseminated to the members.

Our next meeting will be at the Art Center in Pasadena, a location know by few but recognized by many. This shows the level of understanding and support we have for not just the technical aspects of the tools we use, but also “Having the right tool for the right job.”

This meeting will be the beginning of my plan to create the most informed User Group in the Adobe User Group Community. Through Informative Meeting, Block Buster Events, and Superior Staff and Resources, 2008 IDUGLA will work to be the Top Rated User Group, all others will admire and aspire to become.

Now that you have seen what IDCS3 is all about, please join us as Lisa Forrester explores the new features in Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Photoshop Extended CS3. Take a look at these new versions and their integration within Adobe Creative Suite 3. Watch as Lisa shows us new opportunities to increase your creativity and productivity. If you are interested in seeing the newest features, you won't want to miss this meeting.

Even if you are still using the CS2 products and saying “I’m not ready to upgrade!” I want to assure you that our user group is not going to suddenly move forward and not look back. However, we do want to demonstrate the capabilities of latest version of the application.

As always, the evening will conclude with the group's customary raffle of valuable software, books and prizes.

Meeting Notes

Our October meeting was held at the world-famous Art Center College of Design, in the Los Angeles Times Media Center, way up in the mountains of Pasadena. What an awesome venue!

At this event, Lisa (Forrester) Niday once again did a most superb job of presenting Photoshop CS3 Extended and Illustrator CS3. Not only did she demonstrate how your personal creativity can be unleashed with the combination of the tools. Lisa also gave some real world examples. The Question and Answer session delved into some excellent discussions and multiple solutions to complex techniques for some uniquely creative concepts.

The facility is great, the food and presentation fed us all quite well. For this special occasion we auctioned CS3 Design Standard. Additionally, we had excellent support from members and vendors who provided tools and software from their respective lines of products.

We continue to look for venues to hold our meetings and any other events throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area. The facility would need to hold 30–50 members, and have inexpensive or free parking. We would like to be able to cater our own food when possible. If you know of any company that is willing to sponsor or provide a room, please have them contact us. Any and all support is continually needed and very much appreciated.
